Gene lists and biosynthetic pathway diagrams: Glycan biosynthetic pathways can displayed by clicking the links in the left frame. Click the indivual steps in a pathway to view individual enzyme records. Pathway diagrams use the nomenclature for glycan symbols as established by the Consortium for Functional Glycomics. A detailed description of the glycan structural nomenclature can be found HERE and briefly summarized on each pathway. The gene list was generated by drawing on databases from the Consortium for Functional Glycomics, CAZy, KEGG, Glyco-Chain Expression Laboratory, NCBI, SOURCE, individual experts in the respective fields, and searches of the literature. The composite gene list can be downloaded HERE. BE AWARE: THIS SITE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

Glycotranscriptome analysis by qRT-PCR: Transcriptome analysis for murine and human "glycan-related" genes is being performed by a high-throughput qRT-PCR approach at the University of Georgia. The ITRBG is developing technologies for sensitive and quantitative analysis of glycan structures and transcripts in a variety of mammalian model systems, including murine and human embryonic stem cells. Comparison of transcriptome and glycan structural data requires a framework of biochemical pathways for effective comparison of datasets. This web site presents mammalian glycan biochemical pathways as well as primer design strategies and protocols for transcript analysis by qRT-PCR. Clicking individual reaction steps in the biochemical pathways leads to pages containing the primer design and primer validation data for the mouse "glycan-related" gene list.
